The past two years I have spent most of my spare time caring for my Mom and Dad. Daddy passed away in August 2008 at the age of 96, just a few months shy of my Mom and Dad's 64th wedding anniversary. Since then my Mom is slowly failing but we are thankful every day we have her. In February of 2010 Mommy will be 95 years old!
It has been a couple of years since I have been able to indulge in my favorite past time which is riding my Arab mare Lena. She was quite ill 3 years ago and now with her arthritis and my creaky back, I am not sure how many more miles we will have together. She is our petting zoo at the park and enjoys being spoiled by our campers.
Our grandchildren are my other passion. Our busy schedule doesn't give us much chance to see them but as Kayla Grace (our youngest) gets a little older, our son and daughter-in-law have promised she will get to have KOA time here at the park. Now that our daughter Andrea is up at the campground, we get to see our oldest granddaughter, Keely, on a regular basis which is another bonus to having Andrea close. Her school schedule gives her the opportunity for multiple visits during the year.
In the Fall of 2007 I decided it was time to take control and get rid of some extra baggage that had added on in the last 5 years. Jenny Craig and I have been working at it ever since. I lost 50 pounds and have held it off for the last year. I am now seriously working on the last 50 pounds so mornings usually finds me on my treadmill or working out with Shaun T and Hip Hop Abs!! Recently Andrea and Fritz have joined in so it is fun to sweat it out together - my Mom sits and supervises the workout!!
I will never look like the girl in the picture on the USS Drum but I sure feel better!
