The most popular method to explore the Dunes in this area is with an
off-road vehicle. Oregon Dunes KOA is the only full service private campground at the
south Dunes access which boasts convenient Dune access for off-road vehicles.
It is a short 0.6 mile ride from your campsite into the dunes. From the
Hauser Beach Access Road, you can reach the well-known challenges of Boxcar,
V-8, Razorback, and other wild and woolly climbs. For different riding,
follow the infamous whoopty-do road and you can ride to the beach, visit
Spinreel, or ride down to Horsfall Beach. Come on in and see what we have
to offer if you have an ORV enthusiast.

Our Dune
Access Map will show you the way. It is 0.6 miles from the campground
to the sand. We welcome off road enthusiasts at any time. Be sure to
let us know the total length of your camping rigs when you make your
reservations. This is the only way we can insure you have plenty of
room at your site. We ask that you do not put wheels of any kind (excluding
bicycles) on our grass. The campground is sand based and the grass is
fragile. Your paddle tires destroy the grass with one pass. Please help
us maintain our sense of humor and keep those wheels totally off the
grass during your visit.
We also enforce a 5 m.p.h. speed limit within the campground and through
the business next door - all the way to the rail road tracks. Following
this speed limit is very important to the safety of our guests and for
your camping enjoyment. We are a family oriented park and your vacation
will not be a happy one if you hurt a child OR if we have to continually
ask you and your group to slow down. We will ask you to depart early
if you do not respect the rules of the park.
You will also be reminded not to ride your toys around the park. You
ride from your site out to the dunes. If you follow these 3 rules, your
stay should be enjoyable. (We have a few other rules that relate to
common courtesy and local regulations. You can find those on the site
map page).

National Forest (Oregon Dunes NRA) website. Here you will find the
rules and regulations enforced by the Federal Park system to ride on the
dunes.

We welcome all guests who wish to experience the dunes. For those who
do not have their own off road vehicles, we have three local ATV rental
businesses within 10 minutes of the campground. Far West Rentals will
pick up our guests who do not have easy transportation to their doors.
Located at our entrance, you can walk to Pacific Coast Recreation. When
you book your reservation or at check in, we will tailor make our recommendations
to fit your family's needs. Dune tours are another great way to have
a 'Dune Experience if you do not wish to actually rent a quad or an
odyssey. Dune tours can be arranged 45 minutes north of the campground.

For those wishing a calmer pace, you can explore the dunes on foot. Hiking trails are 15 minutes to 45 minutes from the campground by car. Ask at our office
for hiking suggestions. Visit the GORP
